Course Syllabus

Spanish 1-1, 2017-2018 

COURSE DESCRIPTION: You will learn the basics of the Spanish language, along with learning about the people and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. You will learn vocabulary, grammar, and conversational Spanish. We will focus on reading, writing, listening, and speaking. You will be required to speak Spanish with your teacher and classmates. We will often use our textbook, and also the VHL website.

Lección 1. Hola ¿qué tal? Greetings, courtesy, nouns and articles, numbers 0-30, verb ser, telling time

Lección 2. En la clase. Classroom and school life, school subjects, schedules, -ar verbs, estar, forming

questions, numbers 31+

Lección 3. La familia. Family members, identifying people, professions, descriptive adjectives, possessive

adjectives, -er and –ir verbs, venir, tener

Lección 4. Los pasatiempos. Passtimes, sports, places in the city, ir, stem-changing verbs, irregular yo forms
