Instructions

Write (or revise) 1-2 paragraphs you can use when introducing yourself to your students this semester. Include information about yourself that you want to share that will help students understand who you are and connect with you. Also include practical information about how and when to contact you. 

Include the following information: 

  • How do you prefer students address you? 
  • What is your experience with the course content, teaching, or research? 
  • What kinds of questions can you help students with? What other resources can they use to answer questions? 
  • How should students contact you? How quickly can they expect a response? 
  • Is there a professional photo of you that you want to include with your introduction? 

Consider responding to one or more of the following prompts to add depth to your introduction: 

  • Can you share an interesting story about how you chose your area of study?
  • What is your motivation to teach? Is there a really good learning experience you've had that motivates you? 
  • What part of the course are you most excited for? What kind of experience do you want students to have with the course? 
  • What values are important to your personally? For example, do you want students to know you are supportive, honest, respectful, humorous, serious, authoritative, caring, demanding, dynamic? 
  • What can you share about your hobbies or background that may help students connect with you?

Submitting a complete introduction is worth 10 points toward your final score in this training.
